Your palette doesn’t stop at your wardrobe. Knowing your season also gives you a clear starting point when you’re thinking about a new hair colour, whether that’s a subtle refresh or a bigger change. Here’s how Maureen approaches it.
Why hair colour matters
Hair colour frames your face, so it has a big influence on how your other colours work. Maureen spent more than 15 years as a L’Oréal Colour Specialist, and hair-colour guidance is part of every session.
Work with your undertone
As a general principle, warmer seasons often suit golden, honey or caramel tones, and some Autumns suit copper or auburn. Cooler seasons often suit ash, beige or cool brown tones, and some Winters suit deep espresso or blue-black. Going against your undertone can sometimes drain your complexion or make it look sallow.
Consider depth and contrast
Value and contrast matter too. A dramatic change in depth, such as going from very dark to very light, can change your overall contrast, which can affect which shades from your palette look best. Small changes tend to feel more natural, and they’re easier to maintain.
Talk to your hairdresser
Take your palette card and report to your appointment. Your hairdresser can then use them alongside their own expertise. Maureen offers guidance on direction and tone, while your hairdresser will advise on what’s achievable for your hair.
Grey and silver hair
Your season stays the same as your hair greys. What can change is which shades within your palette you lean towards, and grey or silver hair can be beautifully complemented by colours from your existing palette. Whether you’re covering it, blending it or embracing it, Maureen can help you see how it works with your palette. This applies to men and women alike.
